Tracking Performance

Reports in JobNext are designed to answer three fundamental questions about your operations:

Cost Tracking

Understand where money is being spent across projects, departments, and vendors. Reports like the Job Cost Report (4-level drilldown), five Budget Burn Reports (Labour, Machine, Material, Overhead, Work Item), and Payroll Summary give you detailed breakdowns of expenditure against budgets.

Profitability Analysis

Measure margins and identify areas where profitability can be improved. The BOQ Margin report, BOQ Rate Analysis, and Resource Reconciliation Report compare budgeted costs against actuals to highlight variances. CRM reports like Enquiry Forecast calculate expected revenue using weighted probabilities.

Time Monitoring

Track progress against schedules and identify delays before they become critical. The BOQ Progress report, Project Execution Plan, Job Lookahead (5 resource types), and Gantt charts provide timeline-based visibility into project status.

Tabular Toggle Most reports include an istabular parameter to switch between print-optimized layout and tabular grid view for easy Excel export.
Cascading Filters Search text → filtered dropdown → ID. Type a keyword to populate a dropdown, then select the specific item (job, vendor, customer, material).
Date Range From/To date filters to focus on a specific reporting period. Available on most transaction-based reports.
Material/Machine Hierarchy Three-level cascading filters: Group → SubGroup → SubSubGroup for narrowing down to specific categories.
Drill-Through Summary reports link to detail reports. Click a row in a summary to drill into transaction-level detail.
Export Reports can be exported to Excel, PDF, or Word for sharing with stakeholders who may not have direct access to JobNext.

Best Practices

  • Review BOQ Margin weekly — Catch negative-margin items before they compound into significant project losses.
  • Three-report health check — For a quick project health assessment, review BOQ Margin (profitability), BOQ Progress (schedule), and Resource Reconciliation (budget variance) together.
  • Monitor stock ageing monthly — Use the Stock Ageing Report to flag slow-moving inventory before it becomes obsolete.
  • Run financial statements at period close — Ensure all transactions are approved before generating Trial Balance, P&L, and Balance Sheet.
  • Track the full procurement lifecycle — Use MR Tracking (status filter 0-4) to identify bottlenecks from requisition through to receipt.
  • Reconcile subcontractor materials — Before processing subcontractor bills, run the Subcontractor Material Reconciliation report.
  • Use Budget Burn reports monthly — The five Budget Burn reports (Labour, Machine, Material, Overhead, Work Item) spot resource categories consuming budget faster than planned.
  • Check document expiry for compliance — Use HR Document Expiry reports to ensure visas, permits, and certifications are renewed before they lapse.
