Equipment Allocations
Equipment Allocations assign machines to specific jobs, projects, or cost centers for a defined period. Allocations determine which job bears the operating cost of the equipment, enabling accurate project costing and utilization tracking.
When a machine is allocated to a job, all associated expenses (fuel, maintenance, depreciation, operator costs) are automatically charged to that job's cost center for the duration of the allocation.
Key Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Allocation Code | Auto-generated unique identifier for the allocation record |
| Machine | The equipment asset being allocated |
| Job / Cost Center | The job or cost center to which the equipment is allocated |
| Site / Location | The physical site where the equipment will be used |
| Allocation Start Date | Date from which the allocation is effective |
| Allocation End Date | Date until which the allocation is active (can be open-ended) |
| Daily / Monthly Rate | Internal charge rate applied for the equipment usage |
| Status | Current status (e.g., Active, Ended, Pending) |
Managing Allocations
To create a new allocation, select the machine, specify the target job and site, and set the effective date range. Only one active allocation is permitted per machine at any given time. When a machine needs to be reassigned, the current allocation must be ended before a new one is created.
Cost Impact
Allocations directly affect project cost reports. Equipment depreciation, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and operator charges are distributed to the allocated job based on the allocation period and the configured charge rates.
