Standard Quote

The Standard Quote is designed for organizations with repeatable services that use centrally managed rate schedules. Costs are auto-populated from pre-defined WBS rates, ensuring consistent and defensible pricing across projects.

When to use Standard Quote: Choose this method when WBS Rate Schedules are populated with Unit of Measure (UOM) and rates per UOM, and you need consistent costing from pre-defined rate analysis.

Three-Phase Workflow

The Standard Quote follows a structured three-phase process:

Phase A: Prepare and Verify Standard Rates

Before creating a quote, ensure the Rate Schedules contain accurate pricing data.

  1. Navigate to Preconstruction → Rate Schedules
  2. Search for the target activity in the WBS
  3. Confirm the UOM (Unit of Measure) and Scheduled Rate per UOM are set
  4. Optionally define Rate Analysis to break down the rate into component costs

Rate Schedules

A Rate Schedule defines the standard cost for a WBS activity. Each schedule contains:

Where to find Rate Schedules: Navigate to Preconstruction → Rate Schedules in the main navigation. The Rate Schedules page displays a tree view of WBS activities with their UOM and scheduled rates.
FieldDescription
Activity The WBS scope item being priced
UOM Unit of Measure for the activity (e.g., Sq.M, CUM, Nos)
Scheduled Rate The standard cost per unit of measure

Rate Analysis

Rate Analysis breaks down the scheduled rate into its constituent cost components:

  • Materials — Raw materials and supplies required for the activity
  • Labour — Workforce costs including wages and allowances
  • Plant — Equipment and machinery usage costs
Important: If a WBS activity lacks a rate, its BOQ cost will show as zero in the quote. Always verify rates are populated before proceeding to Phase B.

Phase B: Build BOQs from WBS

With rates verified, build the enquiry's BOQ from WBS items:

  1. Open the Enquiry detail page
  2. Navigate to Requirements (BOQ) tab
  3. Add items from Scope/WBS by selecting activities from the template
  4. Enter quantities for each selected activity
  5. Save the BOQ data

Phase C: Create the Standard Quote

Generate the quote with auto-populated pricing from the rate schedules:

  1. Open Enquiry → Quotes → Add Quote
  2. Select "Standard Quote" or set Rate Source to Standard/WBS
  3. Verify that costs are auto-populated from Scheduled Rates x Quantities
  4. Enter Profit % at the header level or per line item
  5. Choose the applicable tax/VAT option
  6. Add Terms & Conditions
  7. Save as Draft, then Submit Quote for customer PDF generation

Best Practices

Standard Quote Tips:
  • Align currencies between Rate Schedules and the Enquiry to avoid conversion issues
  • Match the BOQ UOM to the WBS UOM for accurate cost calculations
  • Use the Profit % field for margin control rather than manually adjusting rates
  • Maintain Rate Analysis for defensibility and audit trails across projects
  • Review and update rate schedules periodically to reflect current market conditions
